June 2011 Newsletter

Time of Transition
In May we officially finished 1 year of formal language training. We developed a transition plan for this year in order that I (David) can begin to start some formal ministry. We identified 3 main objectives. 1) Continue studying Spanish. Beth and I both will continue with occasional Spanish classes as well as have a language helper in the home weekly. This will include homework and some studying. The goal is to keep improving as time goes on. 2) Support and serve in the ministry of Jesus Cristo Para Todos. We continue attending and building relationships in this church. I still preach on a regular basis, but am also helping lead the group of adolescents and young adults. We have weekly meetings and also do a class every Sunday before the worship service. Recently we took a group of the youth backpacking in the mountains nearby. This was a great time to form relationships and strengthen the group. 3) Build Relationships with neighbors and future ministry partners. This is a very broad goal, but the idea is to nurture the relationships we have and to seek out opportunities for me to serve with my background in counseling. Beth and Zane have especially done a great job of building friendships with neighbors and sharing time together. We try to share more and more of our lives and faith with these families and individuals. We are thankful for these friendships and are excited to continue with them in the future.
I have also been meeting and building relationship with Christian leaders and ministry workers in the area. I especially have been making contacts with those working in the area of addictions or counseling. First of all, in order to learn about what they are doing and second, to see if I can help in any way. I have a lot to say on this, but will briefly mention that recently I visited a home of ex-drug addicts who are making changes with the help of Christ and also work selling baked goods in the streets and buses. I am excited to go back and spend more time with these guys. Also, just last night a church invited me to help do some training with them on the subject of drugs/alcohol and how to respond to the related needs. I will be doing a few small workshops with them when I return to Tucuman and am looking forward to supporting their ministry and leaders.

Financial Update and NEEDS
We have had even MORE changes financially this past quarter . We have had some of you start giving or raise your giving. THANK YOU! However, we have had others that have had to stop supporting us due to personal reasons. Right now we are $175 short of our monthly budget. Again this is also due to rapid inflation in Argentina and a very large increase in our health insurance costs for 2011.
We continue to pray that God would meet our needs through new ministry partners and from present partners willing and able to increase their giving. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with our ministry on a regular basis or increasing your current commitment? Either way, please join us in praying that God would provide for all of our needs and that we wouldn’t have our ministry affected by a financial shortfall.

The Inside Scoop from Zane
Last week we celebrated ‘La semana de Jardin’ (Pre school week) I colored a lot of pictures, made a crown pictured above, watched a puppet show, and saw the 5th graders perform a play. We finished off the week by letting go of over 250 balloons into the sky with pictures attached. I LOVE my school and my senorita (teacher). I have a good group of friends too. Nacho, Guillero, Tito, Agustine, and I play ALL of the time together. Thank you God for my special friends!

I was also able to celebrate my 3rd birthday at jardin(pre school). I loved the carrot cake muffins my mom made for the class, but I don’t think my friends ever ate such a thing;) I got lots of stellar toys and LOVED celebrating

I had a party at my house for all of my other friends. I enjoyed playing with all of my friends and my new toys. Here Can-della and I are playing with the bubbles that Tia Laura is blowing!

Going to the Throne…
Pray for David’s transition into formal ministry.
Pray that our month in the USA will be encouraging and energizing for us.
Pray for our finances to be at 100%.
Pray for our continued language learning.
