Normally summer is a dead time in Tucuman, but for us Jan-March was busy with traveling. David was asked to give a counseling training to some Christian young adults and community leaders in Catamarca that were putting on a youth camp. He presented ALL IN SPANISH! Then he was asked to be a group leader at the camp the next week. He enjoyed 5 full days of relationship building, tent assembling, wood collecting, and lots of language practice. Zane & I(Beth) were able to stay in our friend’s home and visit during the afternoons and evenings. The camp took place in primitive conditions, yet it was amazing how the young leaders pulled it off. The gospel was presented and many received Christ for the 1st time! AMEN! Others were strengthened in their relationship with Christ and made new friendships with other believers.
A few days after camp, we went south to Córdoba for a 6 day field council/missionary retreat. It was a great time of fellowship, encouragement, and a break from the Tucuman humidity.
In mid-March we attended our all church weekend retreat. We had around 45 people attend. We had a great time of worship, Bible teaching, games and time to build stronger relationships. David had an opportunity to give a session on addictions and how help those struggling with drugs/alcohol. We are excited about our transition into formal ministry.
Financial Update & NEEDS
As most of you probably know, all of our financial needs are met by a wonderful group of ministry partners. This includes 14 churches and around 60 individuals or families. We are very thankful and privileged to receive these generous gifts. All of our needs have been met for our first year! The difficult news is that for a variety of reasons, starting in May, we will be $300 per month short of full support. This is due to losing the financial support of 2 churches and several individuals, along with rapid inflation in Argentina and a very large increase in our health insurance costs. We are praying that God would meet our needs through new ministry partners and from present partners willing and able to increase their giving. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with our ministry on a regular basis or increasing your current commitment? Either way, please join us in praying that God would provide for all of our needs and that we wouldn’t have our ministry affected by a financial shortfall.

Family News: Loss & Grief...AGAIN
Today we are reaching deep into our hearts to share some more devastating family news. We found out we were pregnant late January and were very excited to announce to you all the birth of our baby in mid-Oct. However April 7th we had our 12 week ultrasound and found that our baby had not survived the first trimester. We are grieving and questioning all over again. I had another D&C procedure on Tuesday. I am healing well and have more energy. Please pray for our Heavenly Father’s peace and comfort as we grieve, start to heal and move forward. This time Beth has read 3 books that has helped her process . Empty Arms: Hope and Support for those who have suffered a miscarriage, An Empty Cradle, a Full Heart, and Heaven is for REAL (specifically Ch. 17) If anyone is looking for a good resource to read or to give a grieving family, we would highly recommend these. Please know we feel your prayers.
On an encouraging note, we will be visiting Colorado and Kansas this summer. We will be in Denver from June 15-28. Then we will be driving through KS June 29 and spending June 30-July 11 in KS. We would love to see as many of you as we can. We will keep you posted about where we will be visiting on Sundays and any open houses we will be having. We are eager to embrace all of our family and friends.

The Inside Scoop from Zane
I loved going to the youth camp in Catamarca. My favorite part was splashing around in the river. I made LOTS of new friends and got really dirty. My mom showed me a whole bunch of pictures of me that were uploaded on my new friend’s Facebook pages. I’m trying to not let my popularity go to my head;)
Mommy and Daddy finished their classes, so my babysitter, Ivana, doesn’t need to come over any more. I really miss her. We had so much fun this last year. She always made me chocolate milk and took me out to play. I’m glad I at least get to see her on Sundays, because she has started to go to our church. And sometime she just comes over to talk to my mom and play with me.

I started going to jardincito (pre school) this year. My senorita’s (teacher’s) name is Carina. She is very nice and helpful. We play lots of games, sing & dance, play on the slide and make new friends. I rock at my English class and am learning and using a lot of new Spanish words. My parents are impressed. I am thankful that I get to be in the same class as my best friend & neighbor, Agustin. One last thing… I can’t wait for my birthday in 2 weeks. I’m going to be a BIG 3! I’m sure my mom will post a special birthday blog with lots of pictures. -Zane
