FELIZ NAVIDAD - MERRY CHRISTMAS

Luke 2:10-12 “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
We pray you are filled with great joy this Christmas season as you remember the Good News of the birth of our Savior.

Daily we are learning new things about Argentine culture and language. All around us we see evidence of a very spiritual culture. Small statues of Saints or virgins are found all over the city and country side. People believe that by leaving something at the statues, their prayers will be answered. This includes leaving scarves or baby pacifiers at the statue of Christ. (pictured above) These practices, rooted in pagan beliefs, create a barrier between the people and an authentic relationship with Christ, our Savior. We desire that the people of Argentina would know the fullness of God’s grace and the joy of knowing Him outside of ‘cultural religion.’

We praise God for the Church Jesus Cristo Para Todos. This is where we are attending and David is preaching once a month. God is growing and working in this body of believers. We are excited to see how God is going to use the church to disciple believers and reach the lost. Pray for us as we continue to learn new things about this culture and pray for this church as they grow in the Lord.

LIFE THE PAST 2 MONTHS
Valeria, our language helper, is moving to another city this month due to her studies. We will truly miss her. She has been such a blessing to us as a friend and ‘teacher’.

Pray for Valeria as she continues her studies in Cordaba and pray for us to find another awesome language helper.

Thanksgiving was interesting this year. No turkeys or decorations in the store, only a date on the calendar. We were blessed to spend Thanksgiving afternoon in our home with the Borstad Family (missionary friends) and Laura (our Canadian missionary friend who is taking the picture). We were able to encourage one another through giving thanks to God around the table. God has richly blessed each and everyone of us.

I (Beth) celebrated my birthday this past Nov. I was encouraged to see all of the friendships the Lord has given me this first year. They include missionary friends, neighbors, language helpers, babysitters, teacher, and just God appointed friendships.

Zane’s babysitter & my friend, Ivanna

Sometimes we get a ride in the ‘Borstad Bus’ after church. 6 in the front and as many guys that can fit in the back!:)

Our house has started to feel more like a home. I have painted the walls, hung pictures, and made & hung curtains. Now I am shopping for a couch! I have put pictures of our apartment on the blog. Keep scrolling down to see more pictures of the apartment.

TOP 5 TIDBITS FROM ZANE'S POINT OF VIEW
5. It is really hot here. I moved rooms to share the Air Conditioning with my parents. (Right now it is 95+ degrees F with 50% humidity.) That means I get to stay up really late (12am or 1am) because that is when it is cooler and the people are out.
4. I love playing with my new friend, Agusto. He is 2 days older than me and lives across the street. (My mom prayed for a friend my age before we moved… AND God answered her prayers! He does that a lot.)
3. I made new friends with the men working downstairs. They invite me to eat their lunch with them and share their BBQ & Coke with me. My dad hangs out with them too.
2. I am really good at communicating these days. I greet everyone in Spanish and tell them how I am doing. I can tell stories. I use some English, some Spanish, some Zane language, and A LOT OF body language to tell great stories.
1. I love to help. I enjoy setting the table, carrying up the groceries, and mopping the floor. My mom thinks that is GREAT!

PRAYER REQUESTS:
*Peace, patience, and more grace as we continue to grow in the language.
*God would guide and direct our steps for after language school.
*Pray for our language teacher and neighbors that they will see the Love of Christ in us and find the Peace that Jesus offers.
*Pray for us and our families as we are separated during Christmas and New Years. We miss are missing are family and friends very much during this time.
*Praise God! After 5 months, we finally got internet!!!
